Breathing is one of the most basic, yet important elements in life. It allows us to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide with our environment, which helps keep our bodies functioning properly. In addition to its physiological importance, many people recognize breath as a powerful tool for controlling their state of mind. This idea that one can establish control over their own breath has been practiced for centuries through various forms of meditation and mindfulness practices.
Recently, I started incorporating conscious breathing into my daily routine. At the beginning it was difficult to stay focused on my breaths rather than letting my thoughts wander off – but gradually I gained more control over them. Once I established consistency in mindful breathing exercises each morning and night, I noticed an apparent shift in how my day unfolded overall; from improved focus throughout the day to reduced feelings of stress or anxiety when faced with challenging tasks or situations at work or home .
Though gaining awareness and establishing voluntary control over your breathing may sound intimidating at first, there are some simple strategies that make this practice easy to incorporate into your daily life:
1) Set aside a few moments for yourself every morning & evening: take slow deep breaths while focusing on how the air enters & exits your body. Don’t worry if thoughts come up – just acknowledge them without judgement before returning back to focusing on your breath..
2) When you’re feeling overwhelmed/anxious/stressed during any part of the day – pause&take 3-5 full cycles (inhale & exhale fully). With practice you’ll start being able to do this instinctively so don’t feel discouraged if it initially doesn’t come naturally!
3) Use calming smells such as lavender oil or incense while doing these exercises – they will help createa relaxed atmosphere conducive towards effective mindful breathing sessions
By tapping into our own inner power through conscious breathing techniques , we gain greater control over both physical & mental states… allowing us close reach higher levels clarity about ourselves&the world around us. Personal experience has taught me that embarking on this journey isn’t always easy but by committing yourself towards attaining mastery—you will be pleasantly surprised how much calmer & fulfilled you become!
