Today I have been reflecting on the idea of forgiving myself and others for our mistakes. We are all flawed humans, making choices that we later regret or don’t understand in hindsight. But rather than dwell in anger or guilt, I am trying to cultivate an attitude of understanding and acceptance towards my own actions as well as those taken by other people around me.
I believe it is important to forgive oneself if you want to move forward with peace and understanding in your life. Many times we can be hard on ourselves because of one mistake, but this kind of unforgiveness only causes us further pain and will take us away from our highest potentials if we let it go on too long. That being said, forgiveness doesn’t mean forgetting either-we must learn from mistakes so they are not repeated again even though I may choose to release feelings such as guilt associated with them through self-forgiveness .
I also recognize that a critical part of releasing old hurts is forgiving those who have wronged me whether intentionally or unintentionally. Everyone is going through their life process, trying their best each day just like me; however there might be some moments when someone makes decisions that hurt another person without intending to do so– no one is perfect after
